Hi there, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat based in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Relocating to Switzerland wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more challenging than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of on-the-job learning. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Forest Acorn Drift
Most online guidance fell into corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real-life experiences in Switzerland.
What This Website Is (And Is Not)
This site is about:
- Hands-on experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Future Outlook
Our stay in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
